In a project resembling science fiction, students at HTBLuVA Salzburg developed a prototype for gesture-controlled tele-operations as part of their diploma thesis. The system consists of a mobile robotic arm (an igus Robolink) paired with a robotic hand and controlled intuitively via gestures detected by a sensor-equipped glove. The glove translates the user's movements into precise robot and gripper actions, enabling remote handling tasks. Designed for tele-operations, the system offers solutions for working in hazardous environments, such as handling chemicals, conducting research in remote areas, or performing medical missions. Power and control are streamlined with an integrated battery system and a B&R PLC, ensuring flexibility and mobility.
